Wythenshawe Pride

A Manchester pride for everyone.

We started this pride because we believe that pride is for everyone. We love the people of Wythenshawe and we want everyone to join in on the fun!Organised by ixcaliber and Emily Chomicz. The day was a spur of the moment decision. But we've been working on this for six months. We'll hold one roughly very three months. To bring some hope to our homes. Because we want to share the love.We hope you will join us. And it won't just be two idiots trying to save the world by themselves. Our manifesto and promise.See Emily Chomicz's Wythenshawe 2025 Photography Exhibition here.

Wythenshawe Pride 2025

We started our pride because we wanted to do something radical. We wanted to start a movement. We want people to be proud of Wythenshawe and where they've come from.Wythenshawe is for all. The people of Wythenshawe do not judge. We help the poor and needy, and the sick, no matter their background. We help those who flee from the worst life stories. We know eachother's life stories. We think it doesn't need gentrifying. We don't want changes on Wythenshawe forced on us. Civic is fine as it is, it just needs new paint, on-the-street art exhibitions from local artists, nice plants and trees, events, open shops and new paving. And it needs a bit of civic love. That's what we've set out to do here.We both yelled into the streets as loud as we could, shouting "We love Wythenshawe!" and "Wythenshawe Pride is coming to your homes!" and "There is still time!" to try and inspire the public into some action and bring back that Wythenshawe Spirit.Emily sung in her sapphic punk style Anarchy in the UK in a thunderous voice to trams, cars, ambulances, police cars, passersby, and anyone who wanted to listen. ixcaliber made the placards we paraded around from Shadowmoss to Civic to Benchill, and we went onto the Metrolink network. And we both did something that has never been done in Wythenshawe's history before, as far as we can tell.We will schedule another pride soon.Work alongside us. Not against us.There is still time.- Emily Chomicz & ixcaliber, and the Love Transcends Hate collective
